vaccine safety series

Vaccines are among the most closely studied medical interventions in history — yet they remain surrounded by persistent myths, misinformation, and fear.

The Vaccine Safety Series within Infectious Dose takes a careful, evidence-based look at how vaccine safety is studied — and how the systems behind that science function in practice. Episodes explore how vaccines are developed, tested, monitored, and evaluated over time, while also examining the structures that shape those processes.

Rather than focusing only on individual claims and controversies — including ingredients, schedules, pregnancy, autism, and safety monitoring — this series now asks a broader question: when concerns about vaccine safety take hold, what role do scientific evidence, system design, and communication each play?

Each episode includes a companion blog post with full transcripts, citations, and direct links to primary sources, including peer-reviewed studies and regulatory documents. The goal isn’t to persuade through rhetoric, but to make the evidence — and the systems behind it — transparent, so listeners can understand not just what we know, but how we know it.
